Loire, France
Back flip into feudal times

Approaching Brittany from the east, a traveller may let himself be guided by the direction of the Loire River making its way to the sea. France’s longest river once inspired the country’s nobility to indulge in its most wanton extravagance. More than 300 castles and palaces border the Loire like beads on a necklace and provide a striking indication of the frivolities enjoyed in the past. The architectural heritage of Leonardo da Vinci at Chateau de Chambord, subterranean secrets in Breze, modern family life at Chateau Villesavin, contemporary art in Oiron and France’s renowned “Tomato Prince” – a journey of discovery beyond the vast parapets.
