Colourful and dazzling, never in a hurry, cool and harmonious despite all the worries - life continued to pulsate with emotional intensity. Men in uniform, men in dungarees, in working gear, men dressed elegantly, kids in school-uniforms, women in any fanciful outfit you can imagine - from ankle-length skirts with waist-high slashes to hot pants and tiny tops - as if they were going to a Mardi Gras parade."
